We will oppose any effort to impose additional taxes – GNCCI

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has cautioned the government against raising taxes or enacting new ones in the budget for 2025.
Following the elimination of the electronic levy (e-levy) and other taxes, the business community will oppose any attempt to impose new taxes, according to Mark Badu-Aboagye, the chamber’s chief executive officer.
He stated on PM Express that “we would fight it if the Minister of Finance or the administration, for that matter, removes the E-levy and the betting tax and attempts to find another means to add a different tax in the budget.”
He promised that the chamber would work with the government to force other companies to pay taxes.
He clarified that this action will be important in helping the government generate more income in the future.
He emphasized, “We want to reassure him that we would collaborate with them to find companies that refuse to pay taxes.”
He emphasized the necessity of reducing the importation of certain goods and adding value to the raw materials.
Mr. Badu-Aboagye called on the government to come up with creative strategies to help regional companies and sectors.
“Let us endeavor to safeguard our native money in the near and far future. We must come from there because we are capable of producing the majority of the items we import.
“If we consciously work to import less and manufacture locally, we can save the Ghanaian cedi, but if we keep importing, the cedi will keep losing value.” “He said,”
