The CEO of COCOBOD promises to tackle issues in the cocoa industry.

Dr. Randy Abbey, the recently appointed CEO of Ghana COCOBOD, has promised to tackle the issues plaguing the nation’s cocoa sector.
After taking office, he addressed a farmers’ group in Accra, saying he understands the difficulties the industry has and will work with the farmers, who are important stakeholders, to find solutions.
“I am going to work with all of you to deal with these challenges and bring a boost to the sector,” the statement reads. “I am aware of the problems the sector is going through, including cocoa pricing, galamsey, poor welfare of farmers, climate change, decline in cocoa production, and smuggling.” Dr. Abbey
Additionally, he assured the farmers that they would become the nation’s hub for cocoa production.
To enhance the cocoa industry, Dr. Abbey promised them extensive consultation to get their opinions on any new policies.
“I am always looking for ideas and comments to help the industry get better. The foundation of Ghana’s cocoa is its farmers, and they will remain at the heart of the country’s cocoa industry,” he continued.
Speaking on behalf of the Cocoa Coffee Sheanut Farmers Association, Nana Alhassan Bukari claimed that galamsey, climate change, and inadequate farmer welfare are to blame for the drop in cocoa production.
He went on to say that the farmers trust the CEO of COCOBOD to make things better.
We hope and pray that you fulfill your mandate. “After listening to your speech, one may imagine we were in bed last night before the meeting since all the things you spoke have been our headache,” Mr. Bukari remarked.
The farmers assured Dr. Abbey of their unwavering support during their first-of-its-kind meeting.
