Former Asante Akyem Central MCE Robert Yaw Kwakye holds a thanksgiving service at Odumasi.

The Odumasi Presbyterian Church in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality hosted a Thanksgiving ceremony to commemorate the service of Robert Yaw Kwakye, the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), local authorities, and citizens gathered to commemorate his orderly resignation.
Speaking to the media during the event, Mr. Kwakye thanked God for guiding him during his three-year term as MCE, which started in 2021 after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated him.
He underlined that to fortify the NPP in advance of the general elections in 2028, the party must remain united.
To prevent the municipality’s development from stalling, he also urged the recently appointed MCE to carry out the projects his administration started.
“To expedite development in our community, the incoming leadership must promote continuity,” he said.
There are 43 districts in the Ashanti Region, including the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly, which has Konongo as its capital. Initially created in 1988 as the Asante Akyem North District, it is an essential part of the administrative and developmental structure of the area.
As locals and NPP supporters came together to commemorate the milestone, the Thanksgiving service demonstrated the community’s dedication to growth and solidarity.
