Prosper Ogum

Prosper Ogum admits Kotoko players’ lack of endurance, despite Dreams FC’s victory.

Prosper Narteh Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, acknowledged that his team had endurance issues after their grueling 2-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Tuba Astroturf.

Ogum said that his team’s stamina was an issue even though they had won three straight games.

“I believe that we were weaker in terms of endurance rather than strength and speed,” he clarified.

Ogum said they lost their structure during the game, which is why they had endurance problems.

“Somewhere along the line, we lost our structure, and sometimes when you lose your structure, it makes it look like we do not have the endurance to continue,” he continued.

The coach did, however, give his substitutions credit for bringing stability and balance back in the closing minutes of the match. Ogum stated, “I believe we had some stability, balance, and solidity in the center when we made the substitutes, and we got the game moving, especially in the last 15 minutes.”

The energy they put forth in their recent derby triumph over Hearts of Oak may have affected his players, Prosper Ogum added. He said, “You expect energy levels to decline when you play a big game like Hearts of Oak, and they exerted a lot of energy on that day, but to me, it was not that noteworthy.”

After victories over Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak, Kotoko’s victory over Dreams FC is their third straight victory. The Porcupine Warriors are currently gaining ground in their campaign as they look to contend for the Ghana Premier League title, despite the endurance issues.
