OB Amponsah loads Bukom Boxing Arena, which has a 4,000 capacity, with Comedy Special

On December 21, 2024, OB Amponsah, a comedian and ophthalmologist from Ghana, created history by packing the Bukom Boxing Arena, which can accommodate 4,000 people, with his tenth-anniversary comedy event.

Because it is the first time a comedian from Ghana has been able to sell out a larger venue for a comedy event, players in the creative industry have called this an exceptional achievement in Ghana’s comedy scene.

According to OB Amponsah, he was certain that accepting the challenge of hosting his tenth anniversary in a much larger location would enhance the Ghanaian comedy story they have been supporting for the previous several years after filling smaller venues over the years.v

With his fantastic remarks, OB Amponsah had the audience in stitches. His topics included politics, relationships, sex, and other bizarre topics that are not appropriate for casual conversations. OB’s courage in navigating contentious topics is what makes him stand out from many of his peers, and he used that to his advantage in his presentation that evening.

Several Ghanaian comedians also performed during the occasion, much to the delight of the audience. They gave the public something they could easily relate to by basing a lot of their comedic content on the election that took place on December 7.

DKB, Jacinta, Ebenezer Dwomoh, Ranzy Ray, Smile, Kwaku40, Kojo Pjay, Oojoo, Papa Yaw, Putogo, Foster Romanus, Jerry Ashinyo, Kwame Obed, Canadian comedian Emerson, American Miriam Kirk, and Botswana’s Johnny Pula were among the incredible performers.

As the program is MC, Ghanaian comedian Lekzy DeComic gave a fantastic performance. Throughout the performance, the stand-up comic did a fantastic job of keeping the audience interested and captivated. The audience gave him a hearty round of applause for his ability to manage some of the difficulties that arose at the start of the performance.

Dignitaries including Ken Fiati, Timothy Bentum, Ama K. Abebrese, and David Dontoh were also present.
