Mubarak Wakaso’s move to Hearts of Oak falls after negotiations stagnate.

As the second registration window closes on Wednesday night, Mubarak Wakaso’s planned transfer to Ghanaian powerhouse Hearts of Oak has fallen through after preliminary negotiations failed to move forward.
According to reports, the seasoned midfield player was in advanced talks with the Phobians for a January transfer. He has been a free agent since January 2024 after playing for Shenzhen FC in China.
However, 3Sports claims that despite initial optimism, talks aided by middlemen were unable to result in a final agreement.
Due to recurrent knee ailments, Mubarak Wakaso, 34, has not participated in a competitive game since August 23, 2023.
Hearts of Oak wanted to carefully control his workload, as they did with Sulley Muntari during the 2022–2023 season, given that he has been training in Ghana lately.
To guarantee Wakaso’s fitness, the team had intended to restrict his performances to a few high-profile games and steer clear of lengthy travel.
It was anticipated that Wakaso, who has played for Villarreal, Panathinaikos, Espanyol, and Rubin Kazan, would contribute priceless expertise to the squad.
His leadership might have been crucial in helping Hearts strive for a higher finish in the Ghana Premier League. He has 70 caps and 13 goals for Ghana, including earning the Golden Boot at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
