With a contract extension that will keep the vital midfield player with Asante Kotoko until 2026, the team has successfully kept vice captain Justice Blay on board.
Blay’s prior contract was scheduled to expire in January 2025, but the Porcupine Warriors announced the extension on social media on Thursday after successful talks.
According to the club’s statement, “We are thrilled to announce that Vice-Captain Justice Blay has signed a new deal to stay with Asante Kotoko for an extra one and a half years.”
“This extension shows Blay’s dedication to the team and his wish to support us in reaching our objectives.”
Blay made an instant impression with two goals in 12 games when he first joined Kotoko on loan from Medeama SC during the 2019–2020 campaign.
In the 2021–2022 season, his outstanding performances won him a permanent move. He has since made 56 league games and established himself as a vital midfield player.
The resilient Blay has played in 12 of the 15 Ghana Premier League games this season, scoring one goal, and his leadership and reliability have won him over supporters.
By keeping Blay on board, Kotoko not only strengthens their midfield but also guarantees that his background and impact will continue to be crucial to the team’s goals.
