Herbert Mensah acknowledges stakeholders following his Order of the Volta award.

After receiving the coveted Order of the Volta (Membership) at the 2024 National Honours and Awards Ceremony, former Asante board chairman Herbert Mensah has expressed his sincere thanks to the several stakeholders who have helped him during his 25-year career in sports.

The current president of Rugby Africa dedicated the prize in a social media post to everyone who has helped him along the way, especially in football, rugby, and other areas of Ghanaian sports.

“The Volta Order. On May 9, he wrote, “Kotoko, Football, Rugby, Sports in Ghana – A prize for all.”

“Even though I was the recipient, my thoughts and feelings were with everyone who has traveled this path over the previous 25 years! I think you should all be proud of yourselves and I am grateful to you all. Cheers to the new year.

President Akufo-Addo gave the honor on Monday, December 30, 2024, highlighting Mensah’s noteworthy and long-lasting contributions to the growth of sports in Ghana and worldwide.

Ghana’s second-highest national accolade, the Order of the Volta, is given to people who have excelled in various professions.

Having worked in football for many years, including as chairman of the board of Asante Kotoko from 1999 to 2003, Herbert Mensah has left the game to become a rugby administrator.
