Aboubakar Ouattara, the coach of Hearts of Oak, has promised to make amends for the errors that almost cost his team the victory against the Accra Lions.
Ouattara was not impressed with his team’s lack of focus in the second half, even though they managed to win 3-2.
Mohammed Hussein’s excellent header in the 37th minute had given Hearts of Oak the lead, but they gave up goals to Lucky Nwafor in the 52nd and Blessing Dankwa in the 73rd minute, respectively.
But Hearts of Oak took the lead again and won thanks to late goals from substitute Mawuli Wayo in the 81st and 84th minutes.
“When we came from the dressing room, we lost concentration,” Abubakar Ouattara remarked. “We took the three points, and that is what matters, regardless of what transpired.”
Wayo’s two goals transformed the game, and Ouattara complimented his impact.
“The key thing is that Wayo and Karikari (Martin) came to turn the game and take the three points because we could not make it.”
The coach of Hearts of Oak admitted that the team could do better and pledged to correct their training errors.
On January 3, 2025, Hearts of Oak will play Legon Cities.
