A delegation from the Assemblies of God pays Vice President Prof. Opoku-Agyemang a courtesy call.

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang received a courtesy call from a delegation of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, headed by General Superintendent Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, in Accra.

The purpose of the visit was to offer prayers, congratulate her on her historic election victory, and provide updates on the church’s goals and operations in Ghana.

Rev. Wengam commended the vice president during the visit for shattering stereotypes and motivating women and girls around the country.

“You continue to encourage women and girls, and you have made them proud. We pray and think about you, and we believe that God will guide you and the President in everything that you do.

Rev. Wengam gave a brief history of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, which is approaching its centennial in 2026 and is already 94 years old.

He emphasized the church’s important services to the country, which include running more than 250 schools nationwide and constructing hospitals in Saboba and Nakpanduri (1950).

Speaking about the church’s expansion, Rev. Wengam said that Assemblies of God, Ghana, has 4,200 pastors and over 800,000 members.

He characterized these milestones as outstanding leadership and membership accomplishments.

“We think we do not just teach the gospel but must also exhibit compassion, as Jesus did, to make the gospel full,” he added, highlighting the church’s emphasis on compassionate outreach.

According to Rev. Wengam, the whole Assemblies of God family will likely come together for the church’s centennial anniversary in 2026.

He said, “This will be a blessing not just to us but to the entire nation, with Assemblies of God present in over 195 countries.”

Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang thanked the leadership of the Assemblies of God for their prayers and visit.

She urged girls and young women to strive for more while putting their faith in God’s direction.

“As you listen to the Lord’s guidance, look past me and reach even higher,” she said.

The vice president also emphasized the value of togetherness, healing, and taking care of one another while urging continuing prayers for herself, the president, and the country.

With special prayers for the nation, the vice president, and the presidency, the visit came to an end. As a thank you for her inspiration and leadership, the Assemblies of God delegation also gave the vice president mementos.
